Avengers and X-Men Kewties©

More sketches from last year. I've got more of this cute stuff..including the rest of the X-Men (Byrne era), The Fantastic Four, Spidey, Batman, classic horror monsters and more Star Wars. Eventually I'd like to color them all up. So far, I've only done Cap and started Thor.

Turner Graphics designs

These are a few of the designs I worked on for Turner Graphics, in South Carolina, over the summer. The first image, with the Tomato golfer, was a banner design for a S.C. restaurant.

Sketchbook Meanderings

Sharky

He wasn't meant to be based on a shark, but he kinda reminded me of one when it was done, so to give him a name so I could name the file...I called him Sharky.  If I could redo it, I'd give his arm a looser, more cartoony feel than the more muscled arm here. 9 x12 on bristol.

Big Headed Monster

This was sitting around in sketch form for a few weeks before I came across it again and deemed it worthy enough to take it any further. I've got lots of drawings left in their pencil stage that I lost interest in for one reason or another and abandoned, but I thought this guy was ok enough. I still wound up screwing up his hand and back arm, though, when I inked it.

RoboKrunx™ Warrior

11X14 sketchbook drawing, utilizing the usual assortment of drawing tools...Col-Erase blue pencil, Staedtler brush marker, Copic gray markers (cool and warm), white-out pen and white charcoal pencil.

Skull Sketch For A Friend

I drew this for my old friend Mitch Waxman, creator of Plasma Baby, when I met up with him a few weeks ago. I drew this in a copy of my first sketchbook in the car before we met.

I Dig You

This is one of the badges I created for the Monsteriffic style guide.

Monsteriffic

This was designed as part of a proposal to Michael's stores for their 2012 Recollections Halloween line of dimensional stickers. I created a full style guide, including fonts, characters, badges and characters, but the whole thing was shelved and we went with a different look instead. The monster font wound up going to the Sticko department (another division of EK Success Brands) and I believe that should be in stores soon. Here's a rough logo I did for the Monsteriffic style guide pitch, using the pencil sketches for the uppercase font.

Captain Comic from Comic Book Collector Video

This is from the archives...a comic page I illustrated in 1990 for a video on the history of the American comic book, entitled 'Comic Book Collector.' It was hosted by Frank Gorshin, best known for his role as The Riddler in the 1960's Batman TV series.  It was released on VHS video tape back in the ancient days of 1990, by Blue Flame Productions.

you can watch the full video in 4 parts on You Tube. Here are links to each part:
