The first three auctions of these Monster sketch cards that I put up on Ebay a week ago have just ended, with no bids. I had two watchers on one of the cards and one watcher on two others. Oh well. I have the second set up currently, and those will be ending soon, also 99.9% sure without bids, either. Ok, 100% sure. I'm not gonna put these last few up, but if I do some more mainstream characters, I'll give it another shot. I've got two blank sketch cards left, so we'll see. Still, these were a lot of fun to do. Top to bottom we have:
7 of 9 - Revelation
8 of 9 - Not In His Right Mind
9 of 9 - Where His Fate Led Him

the guys and gals who lurk around the internet are the sort of lot who usually find takes on the familiar more interesting rather than finding something new.
like this guy over springfieldpunx.blogspot.com (does superheroes "simpson style")or the guy at pixeloo.com (does "photoreal looking" cartoons characters like super mario or homer simpson). they get loads of respnses simply by reinterpreting something already established in popularity.
even me, when i do my version of "mini marvels" on my blog, is when i seem to get the more responses than normal.
do some marvel/dc comic guys first. see if they sell. if they do then post the monster ones again.
btw- the last guy is my fave of the set.
Thanks for those links - both those guys are amazing! I can see why they have a following!
I'll give it a go and see what happens with some well known characters.
Glad you like the last guy - funny, Rob's favorite from the first three was also the dude with the empty eye sockets.
Hey. Nice wrap up to the set o' nine. Solid work as per usual. I do have to say that I find the very human-like expression on Revelation very interesting and a bit of a departure for you. Hmmmmmmm.
Jason has a good point, but I appreciate you doing what you enjoy the most.
Thanks, Rob. Glad you picked up on the expression in Revelation. I do that from time to time. Maybe some of those drawings don't make it to the blog for whatever reason.
I do enjoy these monsters the most, at least in the fun of actually drawing them - the shapes and what not. But I do want to do some actual well-known characters. Soon!
Dude! You have a great style! I was wondering if you ever have done a Darth Vader? I am creating a tribute book to George Lucas called "100 Ways to the Darkside" where I am having 100 hand picked artist create Darth Vader. I would love one for the book in your style. Please let me know if your interested!
Thanks a million
- Josh
