... thing is, the original isn't that dark! I used some big fat black marker that I had at work to fill in the background...something you'd use to label boxes...reason I used that was because this drawing was done on thinner, copier paper and it tends to buckle up when I ink the backgrounds in with the brush pen.
I scanned it at work and it just came out like that. I didn't really tweak it in Photoshop, just the way the settings on the scanner picked up the blacks.
Truth be told, I saw the original at work and he had done the whole piece up in these super-girlie pastels. Thankfully, the scanner had a mind of its own and took over...mercifully changing all those "sweet" colors he used into the infinitely more manly, rich black we see before us. Thank God!
