Freddie Mercury - 1972

I did this drawing from a photo I found online of Queen's performance at the Marquee Club in London, Dec. 20th, 1972. This was a very early show in their live history, seven months before the release of their first album.

Nice high contrast, but I think it would look even better if the background and some of the darks in the face were darker.

Thanks, Dan. I think you're right. I was a little hesitant, tentative going in darker for fear of screwing it up or something. I'm gonna go back into it and post a revised ver. later.

Wow, really nice, dude! Wish I could've been there to see you draw this. I think it needs a little more contrast, seeing again. But you captured a nice mood.

Thanks, Jess! Lol..yeh, maybe one of these days we'll have a drawing session where we can all hang and draw....! Ha...ya crazy nut...I'm looking forward to seeing the posts of what YOU drew yesterday (for the uninitiated, we actually did have a drawing session at my place....just the Jesster and myself, but on another occasion, more of you bloggers are welcome to come by for a sketchting jam).

Yeah, it would be nice if we could all meet at a neutral place and just hang and draw, maybe once every month or every 2-3 months. That would be really cool!

Looks better.
Yes, let's all meet at a neutral place. How about Switzerland?
Let me know...

Dan, Switzerland sounds great! Lol!

I guess Jesse meant a central meeting point...somewhere equidistant for everyone. Well, Dave Johnson and his crew had their Drink and Draw sessions at some bars...I don't know of any place that we might all feel comfortable in to spend a few hours drawing..but if anyone has any suggestions, let us know. As always, my place is available for a Saturday drawing jam.
