Color Page

Had a couple of friends over today to draw and hang out. Here's one of the pages I worked on. Colors are copic markers on the figures and colored pencils for the backgrounds.

Oh cool, you did post him!! And you added a friend!!! Cool...love those Copic markers, I will have to look for those online. Watching you use them was cool 'cause they don't smear your black marker lines which makes them a breeze to use and color loosely without worrying about messing up your linework and drawing. I like this guy and you drew him so fast too! Love the face too...great layering of colors on these. Hey, that was fun yesterday, let's try to do it more often than every year or so!!

Thanks, Jess. Yeh, I might not have posted him if not for your encouragement. Figured the page needed to be filled up, so added the dude on the left.

Yeh, the copic markers are great...I haven't seen any color stuff online (haven't really searched), but if you look up Adam Hughes con sketches or Adam Hughes Copic markers you'll find some cool examples. He does his mainly using the gray tonal ones.

Also, as you noticed they don't smear. it should be noted that Copic makes a black marker, too, so they work well together, although you can always use a good black marker from elsewhere, like those Staedtler brush markers I was using.

Just wish they weren't so expensive! I did see another brand that looked very similar to the Copics in Pearl a couple of weeks back, and they were a bit cheaper, so it might pay off to look into those as well. Just don't remember the name!

And, yes, we'll certainly have another drawing session sooner than a year from now. Maybe if we give more advance notice we can get a few more people down here.

Yet another solid, monstrous effort from Mr. Leiter. Very nice coloring job. Those markers are pretty damn kool.
