Digital Girl

Did this today at the freelance gig I've been at for the last month and half. It's a combination of digital and some hand sketching with a ball-point pen on a color print-out. The design was done for girls 12-16, and they felt this girl looked too old, so I did another version with a younger looking face.

that looks really cool! what was this for exactly if you don't mind my asking. t-shirts?? if so, that's a great graphic for a white tee!! it really pops off on white.

i see stuff like yours and other more talented cats out there (i'll indulge myself in a bit of vanity right now and put myself in this category thank you very much! hah!)and it amazes me that you/they are not more commercially recognized and or famous by now.

Thanks, Jason! This was done for a line of girls T-shirts..this first design was deemed 'too old' (the girl herself), so I did a younger version...that was deemed 'too posed'...I wound up doing about five or six different versions until they settled on one, at the very end of the day (basically because it had to be sent out). I think this one was the most succesful.

As for more of us being more famous or well known..well, there are soooo many amazingly talented illustrators out there today, it's hard to get noticed, unless you publish something, or really do something to get your work out there, other than a blog or a website.

I come across artists pages all the time that I'm blown away by and wonder why I don't know their work...most of them are working in obscurity like the rest of us...earning a living doing grunt work of some kind or another. to really make yourself known, you have to have ideas, and your own creations, out there in some way...whether it be t-shirts, books, comics, etc. Alot of it is self-promotion, too...and an undying devotion to your own art and determination to get it to as many people as possible.

Something like that. :)
